Found some interesting DIY during an electrical safety test (EICR) in South Darenth. The previous owner had installed a cooker on a tiny flex to a 32a outlet. This should be on a plug top with the correct fuse fitted and the outlet changed to a single socket. They also added some lights to the conservatory and outside area, resulting in lots of basic insulation (brown & blue) wires exposed which needs to be tidied up and enclosed in the junction box. Most of the time, if something doesn’t look right then it probably isn’t. It’s important to get an EICR carried out when buying a property to make sure the installation is safe and there are no hidden surprises once you have bought the property.
